George Floyd’s Family is Suing Kanye West for $250 Million Over Drink Champs Podcast Comments.
On Oct. 15, while on the hip-hop podcast Drink Champs, Ye said cause of Floyd’s death was due to fentanyl overdose and not by Derek Chavin, the former Minneapolis police offer who was convicted of murder as it is publicly known.
The lawyers representing the family of George Floyd and his daughter Gianna Floyd specifically who is aged 7, say they are suing West for $250 million in damages.
Attorney Nuru Witherspoon who is representing the family said, “The interests of the child are priority, George Floyd’s daughter is being retraumatized by Kanye West’s comments and he’s creating an unsafe and unhealthy environment for her.”
Another attorney called Kay Harper Williams added, “Free speech rights do not include harassment, lies, misrepresentation and the misappropriate of George Floyd’s legacy. Some words have consequences and Mr. West will be made to understand that.”
It should be remembered that Ye put on T-Shirts with “WHITE LIVES MATTER” while at his Yeezy fashion show in Paris, on the contrary, George Floyd’s death caused the “Black Lives Matter Movement” in 2020 which put George Floyd as the face of the Movement.
