The Oscars are believed to be international Awards which are always held held in Los Angeles every year.
However, this time round, Nigerian fast rising super female star Tem who has been nominated in different international awards including the Grammy’s was also nominated in the 95th Oscars awards which occured on 12th March 2023 in Los Angeles.
This was considered to be a huge success for the Nigerian music industry since Tems is considered to be the first Nigerian artist to be nominated in these awards.
The singer according to the award’s nominations, she was nominated amongst the best original song category alongside Applause from Tell it like a woman (Diane Warren), Hold my hand from Top Gun Maverick (lady Gaga and Blood pop),This is a life from Everything Everywhere All at once (Ryan Lott,David Byrne and Mitsiki).
However, Tems was nominated due to her overwhelming contribution as a song writer of Lift Me Up which features in the famed Black Panther but she unfortunately lost the Award to Naatu Naatu from RRR which is believed to have been composed by MM Keeravani with vocals by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, lyrics by Chandrabose.
